Bunty Aur Babli 2 Starring Saif Ali Khan And Rani Mukerji Pushed Ahead Due To Pandemic; Will Not Release In April 2021
As per reports YRF’s head honcho, Aditya Chopra has decided to push the release of Bunty Aur Babli 2 ahead, due to the second wave of COVID-19
Yash Raj Films' much-anticipated venture Bunty Aur Babli 2 pushed ahead. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhanth Chaturvedi and debutant Sharvari, will be kept on hold and won’t release on the announced date of April 23, 2021, due to increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. The country is currently experiencing a second wave of Coronavirus thus compelling the government to impose lockdown in certain areas to curtail the cases. As per reports in Bollywoodhungama.com, the head honcho of YRF Aditya Chopra aims to put it in theatres only at the right time.
He feels Bunty Aur Babli 2 is a film that will entertain the entire family and hence wants to wait and see how the vaccination process helps curtail the virus and take his next step. A trade source informed the said publication, “Aditya Chopra is playing the big game of making theatricals make a huge comeback and he is extremely confident that Bunty Aur Babli 2 will entertain the whole of India. The film is a popcorn entertainer that the entire family can watch and enjoy. He wants to hold the film and not release it at a time when the country is experiencing a huge spike of COVID-19 cases. He wants to keep an eye on the vaccination drive and see how India controls the virus spread in the days to come.”
The source also informed, big films pull a large number of audiences to theatres, and hence one needs to be careful while picking the day of release post the pandemic. Also, the source shares movies like Bunty Aur Babli 2 are capable to revive the theatre business.
“When you have a big film at hand, it is important to put it out at the correct time so that it can reach out to the maximum number of people. Big films will pull people in the theatre post the pandemic and one needs to be careful about their release dates because films like Bunty Aur Babli 2 will greatly contribute towards restarting the industry,” adds the source.
Yet another trade analyst agreed with the makers’ decision, according to the trade analyst, Bunty Aur Babli 2 will also be a profitable affair overseas as well. “Bunty Aur Babli 2 is undoubtedly a big screen film and so it makes complete sense to hold the film for a better release window. It is the correct strategy to hold good films and not put them out at a time when there is so much uncertainly about how the pandemic will spread. Bunty Aur Babli 2 will also be big in the overseas territories so one needs to calculate all these factors. It is definitely the correct move,” adds the trade pundit.
